Where to Find a Support Group

Many places to turn

Ask your doctor, nurse, or hospital social worker about cancer support groups that might be right for you. If they don't know, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Other places to look for support groups:

  • Public libraries and patient libraries at hospitals (the librarian can help you)
  • The National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service (1-800-4-CANCER)
  • Local hospitals
  • Cancer center "psycho-oncology" programs
  • Advertisements in the health section of your local newspaper
  • www.Cancercare.org> (online support groups and telephone education workshops)
  • www.thewellnesscommunity.org> (online support groups and in-person support groups in some parts of the country)
