Planning Your Finances

Know your options, ask for help

Dealing with melanoma means dealing with change. Start thinking about the answers to questions such as:

  • How much can you or other wage earners in your household work during treatment?
  • How flexible can your employer be?
  • What legal rights do you or your spouse or partner have at work?
  • What types of insurance do you have? What does the government provide?
  • What other financial help is available?

Begin the conversation with your health care team to find out as much as you can. Talk to others in your household. Think about having a "family meeting." If you have a lawyer or financial planner, bring them into the discussion.
